The tools behind the assessment. All three are in development, and each one says exactly how far along it is.
Three tools, one system.
The recorder watches what your people actually do. SystemAtlas reads what the code does. DataLens opens the data both of them carry.
In development
Usage recorder
Watches how an old system is really used, without changing it.
- Screens opened, paths taken, errors, values typed twice
- Reads the database log, then web logs, then desktop clicks
- Never keystrokes or field contents; the data stays yours
- Stays on after launch: before and after, as a number
How far along: runs on our own machines only. First up: a sample map, labelled as a demo.
In development
SystemAtlas
Reads the code and draws the system as its major parts.
- Ask what breaks if you change a table or a rule
- Every link sourced, and marked verified or inferred
- Over the recorder’s map: what exists that nobody uses
How far along: runs on our own machines only. Built after the recorder.
In development
DataLens
Opens the data an old system holds and moves, on your own machine.
- JSON, XML and CSV, plus HL7 and FHIR
- Compares two files and converts between formats
- Warns before a conversion loses anything
- Your files never leave your machine
How far along: third in line. Nothing to show yet.
When one of these runs on a real system, this page will show it running.
Have a system that has outlived its documentation?
That is exactly the conversation we want. Tell us what you are running, who depends on it, and where it hurts.
